Social justice defenders, missions, charities… there are so many great ones that are doing great things around the world. Some that I am very thankful for and highly recommend for anyone looking to get involved or donate to a worthy cause are:
Inheritance of Hope https://www.inheritanceofhope.org/ This one is very near and dear to my heart because it came out of my friend Kristen and her family’s journey through terminal cancer. She wanted something for her kids to be able to process having a mama that was sick and to have support. There was very little literature and very little for families in this situation. They started this nonprofit as retreats for families with a parent who is terminally ill. They have one in NYC, Florida, they recently did one in Colorado. They have great volunteers, counselors, speakers to encourage and help the families make memories and to be intentional with leaving a legacy. The retreats are free to the families but take a large amount of volunteers and funds. The web site has great resources and blog, along with creative ways you can be involved.
The Bowery Mission https://www.bowery.org/ I have been here twice and have been blessed both times by those who work there, those going through the program, and the homeless, and marginally housed people. It is a great place to volunteer and donate funds or items. They are always in need of socks and underwear for the shave and showers they have available for people on Tuesdays. They also have a women’s house and a summer camp for kids. This is such a great program to help men and women not only get back on their feet but also to really do well and even give back to the community.

The Potter’s Hands Foundation https://www.thepottershandsfoundation.org/ This is a new house to help those fleeing sex trafficking and looking for a new life. This is a safe house and a home to help with restoration of women’s and families’ lives. They are in need of funds, as well as items. If you are in the NY area there are also ways to help out with fund raisers, or even at the home. Check out the website for more info.
