Convenient (FMF link up)

convenientLinking up with Fiveminutefriday.com. Fridays do not seem to work for me, so as per my second choice name for this blog, Late to the Party, my Five Minute Friday is on a Saturday. The rules are: set a timer and free write for five minutes on word prompt, then share.

Convenient…

It is convenient to look the other way.

It is convenient to pretend  I didn’t notice.

It is convenient to claim busyness.

It is convenient to say it’s not my business.

It is convenient to pass a quick judgement.

It is inconvenient to know the truth.

It is inconvenient to love well.

It is inconvenient to care deeply.

It is inconvenient to reach out.

It is inconvenient to give.

It is inconvenient to truly take Christ at His word.

It is inconvenient to be a Christian.

The convenient life can never satisfy. The convenient life comes up short in giving depth and meaning and worth to life. He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” -Jim Elliot

  1. I love this. You put it so well. Reminded me of: Matthew 16:25 ‘For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.’

    1. Thank you for your kind words. That is a perfect verse. In those 5 minutes I kept thinking count the cost. I am thankful for the blessed inconvenient life for this short time on earth. God is good.

  2. I love your comment that “the convenient life can never satisfy.” I think sometimes we expect it to but it really doesn’t. Living for Jesus is not convenient a lot of the time but it is so much better! Visiting from FMF.

    1. Thank you so much. I need to remind myself often as I just want things to be simpler or more convenient but all the challenges are worth it when I have God’s perspective.
