Out my Window: Well, back to early morning darkness. Not a big fan of the whole Daylight Savings. I need light and a shower ( and plenty of Oolong tea) to get me moving in the morning, but looking forward to a good sunrise soon as I drive in to school.

Enjoying: Flowers… they lasted me 3 weeks!!! and were so happy on my counter. So I threw them out yesterday, and purchased another $4 bouquet today. You cannot beat that.  Also enjoying extra time to read.

Listening to: This incredibly powerful testimony. God is good and all things are possible. No one is ever out of His reach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R58TCV5fxgc&feature=share

I just love Jill Briscoe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqhsHVKmyYM She is 82 years old in this video, faithful to what God has for her. I love that someone declared Ps 71:18 over her in her 70s and she is seeing the fulfillment of it in her 80s.

Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.

Reading: Finished Taste and See: Discovering God Among the Butchers, Bakers, and Fresh Food Makers by Margaret Feinberg https://amzn.to/2SKLLyD There are a few sections that have been really helpful in shedding light on parts of scripture. Not a wow, or deep book, but definitely some really worthwhile nuggets. The bread, the olives, and the fig sections were very enlightening and the scripture connections were well done. I very much appreciated the light I was given. I do look forward to trying some of the recipes.

“We are created to live life around a table in the taking and breaking, giving and sharing, knowing and being known. Bread welcomes us into the community for which our souls were made.”
Started and finished Remember God by Annie Downs. Still pondering this one. Another quick read, more of a memoir book of a season. I appreciated the premise of the book and the question she was wrestling with. Is God kind, always? I enjoy Annie’s voice that is very conversational, and I appreciate her vulnerability. I found myself arguing with her a bit, and frustrated with some of her conclusions or lack there of. I also was reminded about when we put extra expectations on something God has spoken to us and how it sometimes causes us to miss what He was really up to and love He is pouring forth because He is not giving us what we want and think we need.
Started  Michael Cards’ Inexpressible: Hesed and the Mystery of God’s Lovingkindness I was so thrilled when I stumbled on this new book by him. I fell in love with the word Hesed last year and became obsessed with finding out about it. Apparently, Michael Card did too. He is a deep and profound thinker, so I am thankful to have this book to continue to process Hesed and  thankful for the timing of it during Lent.

Pondering: The Remember God and thinking about as I was arguing with Annie (the author) and telling her not to put expectations on words God declares over us, because expectations that are not clarified by Him will trip us up. Then God took the opportunity to remind me of my recent trip down that path, when He spoke Sabbatical over me, and I had visions of sugar plums in my head, and was totally surprised by God’s definition of this in my life. So I am pondering this and also asking God to show me if there are some other things I am defining instead of allowing Him to and missing it.

Learning: Well, another Lent full of surprises. I am doing 40 days of Decrease by Alicia Chloe. The fasts encouraged are not as definitive or measurable and some how I have managed to “fail” at most of them in the first week. I am seeing that I want to get things “right” still and find myself circling back around some of the same things, and even worse, on the days I was warned about it in this devotional. I am reminded, as intended by God I am sure, that I am still in need of saving. I am being reminded of my weakness and God continues to show up and show His strength, for this I am grateful, but wrestling over being frustrated with myself. I am working on writing it out and processing this.

Home: So thrilled, thanks to a mouse (which does not make me happy) and a wonderful son (who does make me happy), I took a day to clean out, clear out, and organize three sections of the kitchen. It has got me moving and desiring to do more. Looking forward to the next full day at home to do more. Definitely enlisting my son (but not the mouse).

Fitness and Mental Health: Still in need of a plan, motivation, and even more sleep. My flowers, candle, and reading are definitely helpful, but I know emotionally, mentally, and physically, I am in desperate need of exercise.

Giving Thanks: So thankful for my son helping me with the cupboards. We laughed and had as much fun as was available with cleaning and clearing out a cupboards. So thankful for all the women traveling the Lent road together, some in class and many outside of it. I am excited to see how God is going to use it in our community. So thankful for friends who remind me of God’s truth. Thankful for friends who make me laugh. So thankful for a surprise visit from friends. I am thankful that God’s mercies are new every morning.
