Practicing Resurrection Day 1

This Lent I have been following http://www.tamarahillmurphy.com with her liturgical rhythm, along with contemporary art and challenges related to current events and life. I have appreciated her perspective and wrote about one of her challenges to fast from quick judgement and instead practice hospitable imagination https://inkblotlife.com/2019/04/15/hospitable-imagination/ .

On Resurrection Sunday she posted another phrasing that caught my heart and mind, practicing resurrection. I loved the idea. We have just spent 40+ days fasting, looking at God’s character and holiness, and our own sin and need to have transformed minds and hearts. This encouragement that she wrote about is to celebrate Eastertide, the 50 days after Easter until Pentecost, to add something to our day that helps us practice resurrection.

“Put another way: feasting is a discipline, too. We take in the good with gratitude and contentment without making an idol of the gifts. This requires us to depend on the Creator as much (maybe more so) as any other spiritual exercise (TamaraHillMurphy May 1, 2017).”

I love this idea of practicing resurrection. It seems right. Some things do not come as natural as I think they should. She has some ideas to get us started or come up with our own. Day 1

I started my first day of Eastertide going for a morning walk. It was a beautiful morning. I found this intersection on my journey, Faith and Hope. I love that they intersect. Such a great visual for practicing resurrection life.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for

and assurance about what we do not see.
