Enjoy…”to take delight or pleasure in” (Oxford Dictionary). Sometimes I move too quickly and forget to enjoy the moment, or the season. There is so much I enjoy that sometimes I take it all in, and forget to actually enjoy it. This year seems to be filled with sacred echoes to slow down and enjoy the moment, to be fully present, to practice being still, and enjoy the fact that I am Coram Deo… always in God’s presence.
Enjoy, to take delight, take is an intentional act. It is a choice to take in, to delight, or one can just consume, to let all of this life whiz by or we can enter in and enjoy it. As Ann Voskamp so eloquently waxes,
time is a relentless river. It rages on, a respecter of no one. And this, this is the only way to slow time: When I fully enter time’s swift current, enter into the current moment with the weight of all my attention, I slow the torrent with the weight of me all here. And when I’m always looking for the next glimpse of glory, I slow and enter. Weigh down this moment in time with attention full, and the whole of time’s river slows, slows, slows.
This is how to find all the good and perfect gifts God has left for us, to slow down, enter in, and enjoy what is and receive it with open hands with delight and pleasure for the good, and offer it back by living this one precious life with great gratitude.
