daybookphotoOut my Window: A touch of snow on all the buds and flowers, snowflakes floating around

Enjoying: twinkle lights, popcorn, books, walks, birds chirping

Listening to/Watching: I am listening to Til We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis on Audible. I am loving the narrator and the story. So many great quotes from this classic. We finally got around to watching The Martian and Toy Story 4. Both were good in their own way.

Reading: Finished reading Becoming Mrs. Lewis by Patti Callahan. Not sure how I feel about the book. I am thinking in the future I would like to read a biography on Joy Gresham this was historical fiction. She seems like an intriguing woman. My next library borrow is Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. So far it is a simple, funny, quirky book, good for those moments I just want to take a break and not give in to scrolling on social media. I am part of a new launch team for Derwin Gray, The Good Life: What Jesus Teaches about Finding True Happiness based on the beatitudes (June 2). So far it is a good read. I will share more as I get further in on my facebook pages and here.  Uncommon Ground: Living Faithfully in a World of Difference compiled by Timothy Keller and John Inazu is still out for the read. I didn’t get too far in since the book launch came in.
By my bed: Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund.  I am amazed at Ortlund’s ability to write about theology and quote Puritans and theologians in such an accessible way. This book continues to be an encouragement to my soul.

Rambling Thoughts: A few weeks ago I saw that Ravi Zacharias (a Christian apologist) was very sick with cancer. Yesterday he was sent home with days on earth left. His legacy is profound, but his presence will be missed. The voices that seem to rise to the surface these days do not seem wise by Biblical standards. Ravi has always offered wise, humble words. He has spoken truth faithfully with his calm voice pointing us to Scripture, reminding us what is true. I am thankful for the others that have risen up in those ranks who have followed after Jesus with him to help us decipher what is true and how we know it. He also has taught us to not be afraid of the questions. One of my favorite series I went through with my boys was his video, Ask It? He is so good at processing, as well as honoring the person asking the question. I appreciate that about him and want to be more like that. I am praying that the foolish leaders will gain wisdom or step down, and the wise will continue to have courage to speak truth in love even though will suffer for it. I pray for comfort for the Zacharias family and friends, but I also pray that God will raise up godly leaders in that space, for such a time as this.

Home Life: basics/baking… did nothing on the project list again.

Fitness and Mental Health: PT exercises for my knee/IT band. Walking a bit outside. I am improving, so I was able to add a little bit of hills this week. Decided I needed a tangible goal this month, so started doing my own push up challenge and plank challenge, add another push up each day and 10 seconds more each day for a plank. Doing okay, the first few days I had trouble remembering to do them, but still going, even if I missed a day. Mental Health getting outside is important. Taking pictures of signs of life and sharing thoughts on Instagram. Feel free to join me there inkblotlife.com_peggy or just add your own #signsoflife. Putting on the twinkle lights and popping popcorn, lighting candles, and cutting flowers all keep me grounded in what is good beautiful, good, and true.

Giving Thanks: my home, provisions, twinkle lights, Bible Study online, laughter, opportunities to serve again, for family and friends, books, good food, flowers blooming, tree buds swelling, for life and hope, that even though it is snowing it will not last because it is May, for notes, and goodies from friends, technology to be able to visit other churches and stay in touch with people
