Throwback Thursday… sometimes I focus on a thought for a short time and then move on too quickly. I am realizing how often I need to come back to them and give them more attention. As I am usually late to the party, I am now jumping on the old idea of throwback Thursday to revisit some of those ideas… I am reminded of this post and taking heed of my own words as things heat up in new arenas, and new injustices are finding space between the news on the Virus. I do not want to be another voice of outrage. I want to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God.” (Micah 6:8) I am leaning in and asking God to show me what that looks like in this season of my life and the world.

Recently, I was reminded that the people with the biggest, or at least loudest opinions about church and how things should go are usually people that are least vested, or do not have a lot of “skin in the game” as the saying goes. Many times people who make a suggestion about something we should do or have as a church, find out we either have it already, or do not have it because of a specific reason. Some people are willing to offer opinions quickly without asking the good questions up front, and find out the thinking that went into what is done or not done.
